Program Description
For students who hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent, but don’t meet the entry requirements for a master’s, a Pre-Master’s can help them gain a place on a postgraduate degree. For progression to the 1st year of a postgraduate degree at City, University of London. The course length is determined mainly by English language level (UKVI IELTS score).
Students on all course lengths take a set of common or similar modules to gain a solid base of skills for university. If the course is longer than 2 terms, students will take additional modules designed to improve one or more of their English language level, academic skills, and basic knowledge of particular subjects.
Master of Science - Food Policy
The MSc in Food Policy is about analysing, researching and informing the future of food policy from the local to global scale. It is run by the Centre for Food Policy, founded by Prof. Tim Lang in 1994. Read this report for a summary of the Centre's past work and vision for the future.
The ways in which we produce, process, distribute, market, prepare and consume food have important consequences for our health and that of the planet. At City, they look at the positive and negative impacts of food, from the health, environmental, political, socio-economic and cultural perspective.
This Masters promotes genuine interdisciplinary working because at City they think students need to look at the subject from all angles to make the most holistic evaluation. It draws on social sciences (sociology, politics, economics, anthropology, psychology) as well as health sciences and epidemiology. We look at the latest food policy debates and place them in a historical context.
