Program Description
Build a future by studying in the UK, with a pathway course at Kaplan International College (KIC) London. Situated in the world’s top academic city (QS Best Student Cities 2019), the College will prepare students for a university degree, and for a successful career.
Study at one of the most respected international colleges in London, and progress to one of 8 universities, including the University of Bristol.
The University of Bristol is a highly ranked Russell Group university with a fantastic reputation. Students will join a global community of students from more than 150 countries, and enjoy life in one of the UK’s most exciting cities.
Students will learn about the physics, chemistry and history of the Earth through hands-on examination of earth materials such as rocks, minerals and fossils, and using remote sensing techniques such as seismic waves to explore the structure and chemistry of its inaccessible areas.
They will also study in English at a partner university overseas. Students on Study Abroad degrees return with an appreciation of different cultures, exciting new ideas and a broader perspective of the world, all of which can lead to enhanced career prospects.
In years one and two students will gain a firm grounding in earth sciences, building knowledge to inform a choice of advanced topics to study in the following years.
The third year is spent abroad, studying units comparable to those offered in Bristol. Visit Global Opportunities to find out more about where students can study abroad.
In the fourth year back in Bristol students will study advanced topics, then undertake a major research project in the second half of the year. A number of previous students' project reports have been published in scientific journals.
Bristol has a large geology collection and the ability to measure unique geochemical reactions, giving students an insight into geology in practice. The course includes over 40 days of fieldwork in the UK and overseas, the cost of which is included in the tuition fee.
All Bristol geology degrees are accredited by the Geological Society of London and transfers between courses may be possible.
