About 3.5-Term Pathway - Foundation Certificate for Business, Law, and Social Sciences - Transfer to Bachelor of Science (Honours) - Social Policy and Politics
Program Description
Build a future by studying in the UK, with a pathway course at Kaplan International College (KIC) London. Situated in the world’s top academic city (QS Best Student Cities 2019), the College will prepare students for a university degree, and for a successful career.
Study at one of the most respected international colleges in London, and progress to one of 8 universities, including the University of Bristol.
The University of Bristol is a highly ranked Russell Group university with a fantastic reputation. Students will join a global community of students from more than 150 countries, and enjoy life in one of the UK’s most exciting cities.
This course combines social policy and its focus on wellbeing with politics and its consideration of power - who exercises it and for whom.
Both the School of Sociology, Politics and International Studies and the School for Policy Studies encourage strong synergy between research and teaching, resulting in a vibrant learning environment as staff respond in their teaching to new research.
There are obvious links between these two subject areas: politics drives people to think about how society should be organised and how communities and states interact. In turn, this prompts consideration of how wellbeing is unevenly distributed in contemporary societies and the forms of social organisation necessary to enhance lives.
In the politics part of the course, students will study the politics of countries and governments and the relationships between countries, communities and individuals. Politics at Bristol is organised around three themes: political theory, comparative and national politics, and international relations.
In the social policy studies, the first year introduces key skills and concepts within social policy so that students can familiarise themselves with theoretical, comparative and historical analyses. Years two and three allow them to explore their interests in greater depth through a range of optional units.
Students will also have the opportunity to spend half a year studying abroad at a partner university. Visit Global Opportunities to find out more about where students can study abroad.
