About 2-Term Pathway - Foundation Certificate for Business, Law and Social Sciences - Transfer to Bachelor of Arts (Honours) - Philosophy, Politics and Economics

Program Description

For students who've finished high school but don’t meet the entry requirements for university, a Foundation Certificate can help them gain entry to an undergraduate degree. After completing this pathway option students qualify for progression to the 1st year of an undergraduate degree at the University of York.

A student’s course length is determined mainly by their English language level (UKVI IELTS score). Students on all course lengths take a set of common or similar modules to gain a solid base of skills for university. Students taking a course longer than 2 terms, will take additional modules designed to improve one or more of their English language level, academic skills, and basic knowledge of particular subjects.

Bachelor of Arts (Honours) - Philosophy, Politics and Economics
Learn from internationally respected experts from across three highly regarded departments. Build the understanding and analytical skills valued by top employers and become an agent of change.

Understand the forces at work where power and money intersect with ideals. Grapple with the problems that shape society, explore the theory behind policy and question the morality of competing systems of government. By what right do rulers govern? What conditions create poverty and how does wealth interact with political unrest?

This flexible course lets students tailor their degree to their strengths. They'll learn with a diverse and international student body. The active Club of Politics, Economics and Philosophy (PEP) encourages debate beyond the classroom, and with opportunities to study abroad, students can develop a truly global perspective.
