Program Description

For students who've finished high school but don’t meet the entry requirements for university, a Foundation Certificate can help them gain entry to an undergraduate degree. After completing this pathway option students qualify for progression to the 1st year of an undergraduate degree at the University of York. 

A student’s course length is determined mainly by their English language level (UKVI IELTS score). Students on all course lengths take a set of common or similar modules to gain a solid base of skills for university. Students taking a course longer than 2 terms, will take additional modules designed to improve one or more of their English language level, academic skills, and basic knowledge of particular subjects.

Master of Engineering (Honours) - Electronic Engineering with Music Technology Systems
Prepare for a career as a leader in engineering future groundbreaking music technology or audio engineering.

With access to the latest computer design labs, multi-speaker surround sound systems, multimedia studios and an anechoic chamber students will be able to explore synthesiser technology, MIDI, audio recording, sampling and digital audio signal processing. They’ll not just learn how this technology is applied in making and recording music, but also use their engineering expertise to design and build the next generation of audio technology.

The MEng is a fully accredited engineering course which combines professional electronics with audio and music technology.

The University of York's MEng course will consolidate students' knowledge of fundamental principles and introduce them to more advanced concepts. Students will experience a large team software engineering multimedia project, as well as managing a substantial individual project, allowing them to develop the knowledge and skills required to become a leader in the industry. With an increased choice of advanced option modules, they'll have the opportunity to work with the latest innovative technology and engage with world-class researchers from the AudioLab.
