About Bachelor of Science - Zoology - Pre-Veterinary Medicine
The Pre-Veterinary Medicine Advising Program is a non-degree, pre-professional program that provides students an opportunity to prepare for further training in veterinary medicine after completing their undergraduate degree. Students take courses that prepare them for coursework in veterinary medicine school and either the Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT) or the Graduation Record Examination (GRE), depending on the institution.
The College of Arts and Sciences offers advising non-degree programs for students who wish to pursue professional careers in a medical field, including medicine, osteopathy, dentistry, pharmacy and veterinary medicine. The curriculum in these pre-medical programs is designed to prepare students for advanced, professional study by providing a sound basis in biology and chemistry, physics and mathematics.
These advising programs meet the coursework requirements for admission to most medical schools, although admission requirements may differ per school. Students who wish to pursue a graduate medical program would be well advised to check carefully the admissions requirements of the professional schools they wish to enter. Students should also seek advice regularly from their faculty advisors.
