Industrial engineers are essential to a wide range of industries. They determine how an organization's workforce, equipment and resources can be used efficiently and safely. As technology continues to evolve, businesses increasingly need industrial engineers to help them stay ahead of the pack.
La Trobe's Bachelor of Engineering Honours (Industrial) gives students a comprehensive engineering and business skillset, while building their ability to think critically and creatively. Students will discover how to respond to the evolving needs of employers and help them adapt to future challenges.
The course will begin by learning the fundamentals of industrial engineering, from math, and physics to design and problem solving. The course is delivered by leading academics in La Trobe's high-tech facilities where students will develop advanced technical skills in computer-aided design, systems integration, robotics, and digital manufacturing. In the final year, students can build their industry experience by completing a work placement in either Melbourne or Bendigo. Students will apply their engineering expertise with a real-world company, while enhancing teamwork, stakeholder engagement, scoping and project management skills.
Every stage of the Bachelor of Engineering Honours (Industrial) equips students for their future career. Students have the option to exit after their first year with a Diploma of Engineering Technology or after their second year with an Associate Degree in Engineering Technology. Students can also expand their engineering knowledge and experience by continuing to the Master of Engineering programs.
