About Associate of Applied Science - Manufacturing Technology (Co-op)
As a machinist students will perform diverse setups and operate machine tools that cut and form all types of metal parts. This is also a field where they plan the sequence of operations according to blueprints, layouts, or other instructions. Using micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring instruments, the completed work will often adhere to specification requirements and tolerance limits.
Instruction facility is a 10,000 square foot lab that features 40 major machine tools including CNC mills, CNC lathes, computers and software that run some machines.
Employers in the industrial trade hire skilled workers in fabricating metal products, industrial machinery and equipment, rubber and plastic products, transportation equipment, and primary metals. Journeymen may start their own machine shops.
