Program Description

The International Foundation Year in Science, Engineering and Computing is designed as a versatile introduction to all three of these subjects. A core focus on Pure Mathematics will provide you with a fundamental understanding of the topic, as well as applicable skills for your further study. The chosen modular section of the course provides options of concentrated pathways such as Advanced Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, with a view to shape your degree in a way that suits you and the degree you wish to progress to.

Aeronautical and aerospace engineering is among the most challenging engineering disciplines, integrating mathematics, physics, materials and computer science with a strong design philosophy. This course will equip you to design, analyze, manufacture and operate aircraft and aerospace vehicles.

You’ll be taught by academics with a passion for aeronautical and aerospace engineering who are at the forefront of their fields. Their strengths and expertise include aircraft structural analysis (ensuring the aircraft is strong enough), structural optimization (making best use of materials), aerodynamics and computational fluid dynamics (minimizing drag and increasing fuel economy), and aerospace systems design and analysis (ensuring stability and control).

You can choose to take either the four-year Integrated Masters (MEng, BEng) or the three-year Bachelor’s (BEng) degree on this course.
