About Diploma of Vocational Studies - Interior Decorating and Visual Display

The Interior Decorating and Visual Display program readies students for an exciting career in the design industry. They will discover colour, paint, fabrics, and more as they learn the art of interior design. Students are trained on the latest cutting-edge software and shared strategies on how to display merchandise to promote consumer interest and increase sales.

Teachers are industry experts who have real world experience. They work with students, guiding them step by step through the program’s learning modules. Students are encouraged to work independently and in groups. Practical workshops, hands-on training, and project based learning prepare them with a broad range of skills to transition into a design career. In-class learning is complemented by the student placement program, which gives students the opportunity to work with successful designers and gain firsthand experience. Students leave the program with a portfolio of work which gives them an edge as they enter the design field. LBPSB is the only program in Quebec that complements interior design with visual display. The program is also an excellent choice for self starters looking to launch their own design business.

Skills students will learn:
  • Decorating interiors in variety of styles from traditional, to contemporary, to modern
  • Understand how to use and apply the latest computer design software
  • A range of knowledge that crosses over into graphic design and fine arts
Past graduates are working in jobs they love, including home decor and design, staging, professional sales, art gallery design, purchasing and store display.
