About Bachelor of Science - Aviation Maintenance Technology

Aviation Maintenance is what Lewis University was founded on in 1932, and now it is more important than ever. With Boeing’s latest projection, the world will need 679,000 maintenance technicians by 2035. Students who graduate with a degree in Aviation Maintenance are prepared to work in the world’s fastest growing field.

This program will prepare students to secure both ratings required to be a licensed Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT).

Powerplant Rating

This rating will enable students to work on aircraft engines.

Airframe Rating

This rating will allow students to work on the body of the airplane outside the engine; including wings, wheels, brakes, etc.

Lewis University Maintenance Certificate courses are approved by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), under Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Part 147, and are continuously updated.

Students will be prepared for technical management positions with airlines or maintenance, repair and operations (MRO) facilities, including:

  • Aviation Maintenance Technician
  • Flight Operator
  • Crew Scheduler
  • Aircraft Maintenance Director
  • Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor
  • Airline marketing professionals
  • Aircraft parts sales

Note: Lewis University has combined BS Aviation and Aerospace Technology program with their BS Aviation Maintenance Technology Program.
