Master of Science - Data Science - Computational Biology and Bioinformatics

Lewis University's Master of Science in Data Science degree is designed to provide students with the skills and concepts of data science as applied to a wide variety of fields such as the natural sciences, the social sciences, the humanities, healthcare, business and education.

The field of data science uses mathematics and computational techniques to generate new knowledge from large sets of data, which can provide decision makers with critical information necessary to make optimal decisions. The mathematical theory and techniques used by data scientists ranges from probability and statistics, to linear algebra and modeling.  The mathematics are used along with computer science concepts and skills in distributed storage and processing, networks, human-machine interfaces, software development and algorithms. Using these concepts, data scientists can develop software and systems that enable identification and interpretation of critical big data assets.
