Master of Arts - Education - Extended

This extended master’s programme is designed for international students who wish to pursue postgraduate study at London Metropolitan University and will allow guaranteed progression on to the Education MA. The Extended Master’s in Education MA begins with a 15-week programme that will help improve students' English language ability and study skills before starting their master’s course in education.

Following this initial 15 weeks, students will go on to join the Education MA. This course will cover a diverse range of topics around the education sector and by the end of their studies they’ll be prepared to take on a rewarding career in this field. Throughout the course students will gain the knowledge and confidence to debate different subjects around philosophy, the history of education, curriculum theory, psychology and much more. This course has also been designed around the Education for Social Justice (ESJ) framework to ensure social justice and equity are embedded into their studies and wider career. The assessments at the end of each module have been carefully designed to ensure students have the opportunity to demonstrate their learning and meet the stated outcomes. Assessment methods include essay writing, formal examinations, report writing, group working, debating and formal presentations, together with the compiling of a portfolio of tasks and activities undertaken. The programme is planned to build both the self-esteem and confidence so students are able to engage fully with study within the UK.
