About Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) - Computer Systems Engineering and Robotics (Foundation Year) (HG67)
The Computer Systems Engineering and Robotics (Foundation Year) BEng is a four-year degree that includes a built-in foundation year (Year 0).
The foundation year will introduce students to the key principles of computer systems and engineering, preparing them for the next three years of the course. Students will graduate with all the applied knowledge they will need to work in the computing and engineering industries.
The Computer Systems Engineering and Robotics (Foundation Year) BEng will prepare students to study at undergraduate level, developing their confidence and academic skills in areas relating to computing. This preparatory year is shared with other foundation year courses, so students will get to study with a wide range of students with various interests. Should students wish to change their specialism following the foundation year, there will be flexibility to do so.
During the foundation year, students will become familiar with computer security, computer networks, mathematical techniques, programming language and theoretical concepts related to computer software design. Building skills in these key areas of study will ensure students are well-equipped for the following three years of the course.
On the course, students will have access to the specialist laboratories for computer-aided design (CAD), electronics, microwave and satellite communications, embedded systems and digital systems and optoelectronics. The computing and engineering skills students will learn will help them succeed in becoming a computer systems professional.
Students will graduate with a full undergraduate degree with the same title and award as those who studied the traditional three-year course.
An International Bright Futures Scholarship in the amount of £3,000 will automatically be applied to eligible students with overseas fee status starting a degree with London Met in the 2024/25 academic year. This scholarship includes a tuition fee reduction for the duration of students' studies and is applicable to both undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
Tuition Deposit is £4,000 for all students excluding those from Punjab and Haryana for whom the deposit amount will remain at 50%
