About Bachelor of Science (Honours) - Health and Social Care (L590)
The Health and Social Care BSc (Hons) degree is designed to help students develop the confidence, knowledge and skills required for a professional career in the health and social care sector. The programme is aligned to the standards specified by Skills for Health (the Skills Council for the NHS) and on completion of the course students will be able to demonstrate to prospective employers that students' advanced skills conform to the National Occupational Standards (NOS).
The Health and Social Care BSc (Hons) degree will equip students with skills to analyse important public health and social care issues. The course is informed by current and expected changes in the UK healthcare sector, including advances in healthcare technology, quality concerns and the rising cost of providing care. During seminars and lectures, a unique emphasis is placed on London and urban health, where humans face the biggest health and social challenges.
London Metropolitan University employs a comprehensive approach to study, looking at care and its clinical implications holistically to provide students with a wider set of health and social care career opportunities after graduation. In addition to acquiring knowledge in public health, health promotion, policy and ethical aspects of care, students will also gain transferable skills that are useful for postgraduate study and those that are sought after in a range of professional careers. Students will develop their ability to use evidence to inform their decisions, acquiring skills in observation, enquiry and critical analysis.
Teaching is underpinned by current research and students will be taught by lecturers who are experts in the field of health and social care. London Metropolitan University places a consistent focus on the application of theory to practice and teaching will be based on the need to develop students' ability to deal with critical issues in the sector.
The course is delivered using a blended learning approach through online seminars, case studies and video content. Students will also have the opportunity to complete a health and social care related work placement module, and although they will be required to find a suitable placement themselves, team will provide all the support needed.

An International Bright Futures Scholarship in the amount of £3,000 will automatically be applied to eligible students with overseas fee status starting a degree with London Met in the 2024/25 academic year. This scholarship includes a tuition fee reduction for the duration of students' studies and is applicable to both undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
Tuition Deposit is £4,000 for all students excluding those from Punjab and Haryana for whom the deposit amount will remain at 50%
