About Master of Engineering (Honours) - Civil Engineering (H203)
Civil engineers tackle some of the greatest challenges in contemporary society by designing and building structures and infrastructure for an increasingly urbanized global population in an ever-changing environment.
The Master of Engineering (Honours) in Civil Engineering can be studied with a placement year (over 5 years) or without (over 4 years). Completing a placement year successfully earns students an additional qualification (Diploma in Industrial Studies).
The course is broadly based to cover the full range of subjects, allowing students to work in any sector of the industry. Students will learn core civil engineering subjects such as structures, materials, geotechnics, and water engineering and develop excellent surveying skills. Mathematics, programming and computer-aided design are taught within the context of engineering principles and practice. Later in the course, there is the opportunity to specialize in specific areas by pursuing various optional modules.
The program also offers sponsorship, extensive laboratory facilities and several field courses away from the university, including surveying, geotechnics and water engineering. It also gives students the opportunity to study at an overseas university either in Europe, the USA, Canada, Singapore, Hong Kong or Australia for up to six months in their final year.
