2-Semester Pathway - Pre-Master's Programme - Continue to Master of Science - Climate Change Science and Management

The Level 6 Pre-Master’s Programme (PMP) is a two-semester programme, with guaranteed progression to a wide range of Master’s degrees at Loughborough University.

This Pre-Master’s Programme (PMP) is designed to prepare international students for postgraduate study in the United Kingdom. The PMP will allow them to improve their English while learning the study skills and research methods that they will need during their Master's degree studies. They will study academic modules relating to their chosen progression route. Each semester consists of thirteen teaching weeks, one reading week, and an assessment week. The weekly hours of study varies by semester with them on average studying around 18-21 (and up to 21) hours per week. Each module will have an assessment schedule, which will be completed by the end of the appropriate semester. Assessments will be designed to demonstrate learning across the individual modules of the programme and to allow them to experience a wide range of the assessment methods used in United Kingdom postgraduate programmes. Assessments will include coursework, essays, reports and other structured assignments, oral examination and unseen written examinations.

The Master of Science - Climate Change Science and Management addresses the urgent science of climate change, risk and management with a broad, problem-focused perspective that will suit students from a wide range of backgrounds. Modules that form part of this programme tackle issues such as defining and modelling climate risk, tools for environmental management, sustainability and development, and crisis governance. They will graduate prepared to become agents of change who can embed sustainable, low-carbon practices into their careers. Their training will enable public and private sector organisations to survive and thrive because they have a command of both science and management.
