Alfred Marshall, a prominent figure in economics, defined economics as the study of human behavior in everyday life. Building on the principles of microeconomics, macroeconomics focuses on the factors influencing economic aggregates such as the price level and national output, as well as the effects of monetary and fiscal policies on these aggregates.
