About Master of Arts - Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages
As a student in the Madonna MATESOL (Master of Arts in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) program they will become part of a diverse, vibrant community of professionals dedicated to ESL education. They will gain sound foundations in linguistics, second language acquisition theories, as well as in cultural aspects of language learning, teaching, and assessment with a clear focus on classroom practices.
Students will receive highly sought TESOL professional credentials, as this program, since its establishment in 1999, gained approval of the Michigan Board of Education for its ESL (NS) Endorsement Coursework and received national recognition from TESOL, the national organization of teachers of English to speakers of other languages. Students will find that the faculty work for them, as they balance the demands of their work, family, and graduate studies to further their professional career.
