About Bachelor of Science - Computer Science (Visual Computing and Games) (Optional Co-op)

The Bachelor of Science - Computer Science (Visual Computing and Games) program studies how to use computers to both mimic human visual processing power for things such as object recognition, and to create visual content, like games and movies. Computer games also offer a great opportunity for computer scientists to learn and apply fundamental concepts of design and creation of interactive experiences and visual content.

A bachelor of science degree, with a major in visual computing and games, prepares students for a variety of careers including:

  • game programmers
  • computer graphics developers
  • computer vision developers
  • mobile computing developers
  • robotics programmers
  • IT specialists
  • software developers
  • web specialists
Memorial University students work in national and international firms such as IBM, Apple, Microsoft, EA Games, as well as in the oil and gas sector and in local industry.

Direct admission to this major and co-op option is not available at the time of application. Students must complete certain first-year courses before applying to the major. Admission to the major and to the co-op option is competitive for a limited number of spaces.
