About Bachelor of Arts (Honours) - Filmmaking
This course immerses students within a community of creative, collaborative practice where filmmaking is at the core. It provides the opportunity to learn how to navigate the industry, supporting the development of both technical and creative filmcraft skills throughout the studies. As film production continuously evolves, the course adapts to meet the needs of the industry. Its intensive curriculum challenges students to develop their skills and prepares them for today’s production world.
Students will gain hands-on experience shooting projects with the latest HD, film, and digital equipment – from Canon 6D to Red Raven, as well as classic film cameras such as Panavision and Arriflex on 8mm, Super 16mm, and 35mm film.
Throughout the course, students will create a professional showreel that will serve as a calling card for their filmmaking skills. Upon graduation, students will be fully prepared to enter the film and TV industry, as well as explore exciting areas such as digital media, marketing, and distribution.

The course includes industry practitioner talks, masterclasses, and demonstrations, ensuring direct learning from professionals actively working in the field. MetFilm School, serving as the production base, offers an environment that mirrors the professional industry, providing valuable insights and connections that can help launch careers.
- Real-life Experience: This course is designed to immerse students in the realities of film production. From technical workshops and equipment testing to rehearsals with actors and script development, practical, hands-on learning experiences are at the forefront. By graduation, students will have produced a portfolio of work, including a high-quality graduate film that demonstrates the ability to self-manage and meet professional standards. The Creative Futures team continues to support in securing work placements and paid opportunities in the film, streaming, and television industries.
