About Certificate of Higher Education - Screen and Film (Filmmaking)
A Certificate of Higher Education (CertHE) is equivalent to Level 4 (year one) of an undergraduate or bachelor’s degree.
The CertHE course at MetFilm School enhances Filmmaking skills, knowledge, and understanding through a practical, one-year program. This exciting course offers the opportunity to explore filmmaking through engaging lectures, workshops, and the creation of a comprehensive creative portfolio. The portfolio will be shaped by the ‘Studio Project’ module, which immerses students in real-world working practices and emphasizes industry-like collaboration.
Although the course is primarily designed for international students, mature students with experiential ability, even without formal qualifications, are also welcome. The course provides a valuable opportunity for creative practitioners to gain the MetFilm experience and access to networking opportunities.
Why Take the Course?
- Industry-Relevant Skills: Learn key filmmaking techniques such as cinematography, editing, and directing using industry-standard equipment and software.
- Fast-Track Entry: Gain a recognised qualification in one year, enabling entry into the film industry or progression to further education in film production.
- Portfolio Development: Build a professional showreel by creating short films and projects, essential for job applications and industry opportunities.
- Networking and Opportunities: Collaborate with peers and connect with industry professionals, unlocking doors to internships and future career opportunities in filmmaking.
