About Master of Arts by Research within the school of Law
A Master’s by Research degree provides you with strong research skills training, the possibility to manage a complex project and the opportunity to join the community of postgraduate researchers.
Master’s by Research are postgraduate research degrees at Masters level, offered throughout the University in all represented disciplines. There is no taught component. Instead, you are expected to carry out a research project, supported by specialist supervision.
However, you are expected to attend training and development workshops, meeting university requirements and delivering subject-specific training. Students are supported in their independent research study by a supervisory team composed of two faculty members with expertise in your chosen subject area.
A Master’s by Research degree provides you with strong research skills training, the possibility to manage a complex project and the opportunity to join the community of postgraduate researchers. A Master’s by Research is also an excellent foundation to embark on a doctorate, and can be undertaken full-time (12-month submission time) or part-time (24-month submission time).
