Foundation Studies prepares students for a successful transition to degree level study, providing a pathway to the first year of study of a bachelor’s degree at Murdoch University.
This course is suited to those who:
- need an entrance qualification for Murdoch University
- want to accelerate their university preparation after Year 11, or equivalent
- want to change their degree stream after Year 11, or equivalent
On successful completion of this Foundation Studies program, students will gain entry to the first year of any undergraduate degree at Murdoch University, with the exception of Veterinary Science, Bachelor of Nursing and Bachelor of Education.

History is central to any meaningful understanding of the present political, social and moral world - therefore it’s vital to a democratic and open society. If students have to understand the political structures, other institutions, concepts, myths and practices on which modern societies are based, they need to know how they have developed. In this major, students will develop a mental map, stretching back across time and enabling them to situate themselves in the world in which they live.
