About College Certificate - Automotive Service Technician

Program Description

Automotive Service Technicians are vehicle surgeons. They know how to diagnose, service and repair a wide range of vehicle issues, including: steering, electrical, suspension, brakes, engines, fuel, exhaust, electronics and accessories for these systems. Students will become an expert in vehicle anatomy and they will learn how to master shop tools and techniques such as brazing, cutting, and welding. With half a million vehicles on the road in New Brunswick, Automotive Service Technicians have their work lined up.

As a graduate of this program students may be employed in private or dealer automotive repair shops, trade-related fields such as distributors of automobile parts, specialty repair shops or warranty specialists for manufacturers. Automotive service technicians are employed by service facilities, car and truck dealerships and by large organizations that own fleet vehicles. Experienced automotive service technicians may advance to service manager or shop foreman. Some automotive service technicians open their own repair facilities.
