Program Description
Ultimately, nothing is more important than health. That is why Nottingham Trent University will develop students' nutrition and exercise science understanding and provide them with the skills to apply this in the real-world. These opportunities give students the experience employers expect to see.
Students will become a confident graduate who is ready to become an effective health practitioner and enhance lifelong health.
Roles in physical activity and nutrition in health promotion are gaining a high profile, so choosing to specialise in the fields of exercise, nutrition and health provides students with a number of rewarding career options.
Over 25 health and related organisations support this course, all providing valuable industry experience – including the East Midlands Platform for Health and Wellbeing, Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, Slimming World, and Nottingham City Council.
This course has been endorsed by the British Dietetic Association’s Sport and Exercise Nutrition Register (SENR). This quality mark is Nottingham Trent University's guarantee to students that the material they study has been mapped to the SENR standards expected of those working in sport and exercise nutrition.
The course has been developed with input from public health, exercise and nutrition practitioners to ensure students have the opportunity to acquire the knowledge and skills required to enhance their job prospects. Students will have numerous opportunities to practice what they have learned including:
- dietary and exercise assessment sessions with volunteers (supported by tutors)
- designing and delivering healthy eating sessions
- working in the community to increase physical activity levels
- practising communication skills
