Bachelor of Fine Arts - Graphic Design

Program Description

As graphic design majors at ONU, students will learn how to combine typography and images to communicate ideas. The program blends artistic concepts – like design theory – with the technical know-how needed for production. Students will also learn how to research, work on a team, and think critically and creatively. These skills will set them apart in the marketplace.

Large institutions just can’t provide the individualized attention and opportunities students will find at ONU. They’ll learn just as much outside the classroom as they do inside. Students will participate in juried art shows and portfolio critiques in major cities. They’ll go on field trips, participate in group problem-solving sessions, design campus publications, produce art for fundraisers and interact with visiting artists and designers. Students will take intensive, lab-based courses in design and work on real-world projects for actual clients.

Here, they'll join a close-knit family of designers. From the time they arrive on campus until they graduate, students will be guided by the same faculty advisor. Students will enjoy small class sizes and amazing friendships with their fellow art and design students. The dedicated professors will get to know them. They will go above and beyond to develop students as designers and professionals.

Upon graduation, students will have a portfolio of professional work that will help them land a great job right away!
