Double Degree - Bachelor of Arts (Honours) - Politics, Philosophy and Economics & Bachelor of Education (QB)

About Double Degree - Bachelor of Arts (Honours) - Politics, Philosophy and Economics & Bachelor of Education (QB)
The Bachelor of Education (Concurrent) prepares secondary school graduates to become educators and qualify for Ontario College of Teachers certification.
The program provides:
- Two degrees at the same time: Bachelor’s in Arts and a Bachelor of Education.
- 5 years plus one term, with education courses and experiences in educational settings completed in years 1-2 with an in-school placement in year 3. Students complete an additional summer term in year 5. Graduates are out into the job market one year early.
- For both Primary-Junior (JK-Grade 6) and Intermediate-Senior (Grades 7-12) (decided by students at the end of year 1).
- Students will choose a concentration in Year 5, such as Teaching At-Risk Children or Adolescents, International Education, Exceptional Learners, Arts in Education, Drama in Society, Assessment and Evaluation, etc. They may instead choose to apply to a Program Track. The Program Tracks are Aboriginal Teacher Education, Artist in Community Education, and Outdoor Experiential Education.
Student can study social issues and how society responds to these issues, while asking questions drawn from economic, political and philosophical perspectives. Society faces challenges that are complex and multi-dimensional, and efforts to tackle these challenges require people to bring complementary intellectual skills together in analytical and critical ways.
This new, undergraduate program combines Economics, Philosophy and Politics in ways designed to prepare students for a wide range of professional career paths. Students completing the program will be ready to enter graduate studies in their area of specialization, law, public service, international development, policy design and analysis, or any other career that calls for strong analytical and communication skills.
The program is structured as an augmented medial (much like a triple-major), without sacrificing advanced skills in each student's area of specialization. With over 50 courses to choose from to complete the program, they will have flexibility in their degree to create a path that works for them, yet with a focus that will stand out in the marketplace.
