About Bachelor of Arts - Art History
Program Description
The Global Student Success Office is committed to supporting a student's journey at Queens College from their initial application through to graduation. The office assists with many aspects of a student's life, including expediting their admission process, offering orientation programs as they transition to the American classroom, and providing academic and social experiences scheduled throughout the year.
Whether students are required to participate in the Undergraduate Global Student Success Program or enroll through General Admission, they will have access to service and support provided by the Global Student Success Office.
The study of art is at the core of a liberal arts education. Queens College’s varied curriculum, large faculty, and excellent studio facilities support a variety of interests and aspirations. Students may choose from four main concentrations: art history, covering both Western and non-Western art; studio art, in which students are trained to work in several media; art education, combining a major in studio art with courses in secondary education; and graphic design, in which students learn principles of type and image design for print or web.
Today’s high-tech world puts a premium on visual representations and visual literacy. Art graduates are working in the media, publishing, public relations, and creative industries, in galleries and auction houses, in museums and libraries, and in government and nonprofit organizations. Many graduates teach art and art history in places as varied as elementary and secondary schools, summer camps, tourist programs, and museums; with advanced degrees they teach in colleges and universities.
