Program Description
Global Student Success Program (GSSP)
Queens College Global Student Success Program (GSSP) is a required first-year experience program designed by academic experts covering all aspects of a student's new living and learning environment in the United States.
As a Queens College student from day one, they will enjoy the added benefits of smaller classes where they will receive more personalized attention, and access to academic advisors and tutoring as well as opportunities to connect with other international and American students through a variety of social activities, student clubs and organizations.
Political science analyzes the forces that shape government policy in both the national and international arenas. Such forces include power relationships, political values and ideologies, the “rules of the game” that shape government institutions, and the strategies of citizens and other social actors.
The curriculum includes American, comparative, and international politics; political theory and methodology; and law and politics. Students also may complete internships for credit—with administrative, judicial, legislative, or other offices of government, law firms, nonprofit advocacy groups, and elsewhere.
Political science serves as a gateway to careers in government service, education, journalism, law, research agencies, political parties, interest groups, business enterprises, trade associations, and labor organizations.
