In today’s high-tech yet hands-on world, careers in the health sciences are more important than ever. Whether it’s developing a vaccine to neutralize a global pandemic, helping a patient learn to use a prosthetic device, screening a woman’s breast health with a mammogram or treating an infant with a stubborn fever, the need for thoughtful, well-educated professionals is clear. The School of Health Sciences prepares Quinnipiac University’s students for these dynamic and fulfilling roles as clinicians, rehabilitation specialists, imaging professionals and scientists.
As a student in the School of Health Sciences, they can see the future — students’ future — right now. University’s classes are purposefully designed so they can investigate and experiment, especially with their explorer major, Health Science Studies.
The interdisciplinary design of the Health Science Studies program emphasizes patient-centered care with a science-based focus on wellness, health and fitness. With the addition of two new tracks in Fall 2022, students can choose from: exercise and wellness, human movement, sports medicine, clinical preparation, and health and science. A sixth track, Physician Assistant Prep, is by invitation only.
Quinnipiac University's' cutting-edge facilities in the School of Health Sciences include a pair of simulated operating rooms, a diagnostic imaging suite equipped with CT, MRI and ultrasound scanners, and five high-fidelity simulation suites with manikins that can be programmed to present with various symptoms. Students’ also have occupational therapy and physical therapy labs, a movement and motion analysis lab, and a biomedical sciences lab. Likewise, the Center for Interprofessional Healthcare Education (CIHE) programming is a wonderful way for students to collaborate across health-related disciplines.
