About Bachelor of Science - Information Technology
As an information technology major, students will benefit from Sacred Heart's dynamic course of study with business applications that prepares them to lead in the evolving field of information technology.
Students will gain skills with a bachelor's in information technology:
- Analytical skills to enable students understand complex problems in information technology
- Decision-making skills in fast-paced business-oriented technical environments
- Problem-solving skills to solve complex problems in a systematic and logical manner
- Communication skills to explain technical details to a wide range of audiences
- Critical-thinking skills to work on projects utilizing a variety of methods with the ability to quickly assess solutions
In the information technology program, students will also:
- Gain a strong foundation in programming languages, problem solving techniques and computer ethics
- Advance their skills in database design, systems analysis and interface design using Flash, ActionScript and Dreamweaver
- Learn to analyze problems, then identify and design solutions
- Take courses in human computer interaction, web design, multimedia applications and systems analysis and design
- Develop teamwork skills in order to establish goals, meet deadlines, manage risk and produce deliverables
