2-Term Advanced Pathway - International Year One - Transfer to Bachelor of Arts - Anthropology

International Year One allows students to take credited SF State preparation courses alongside additional academic and English language instruction. The vast range of credit courses on offer allows first-year students to both discover new fields and further explore already strong subjects. Once International Year One is completed, students proceed directly to their second year of degree study at SF State.

The undergraduate program in Anthropology is designed to provide a broad base of knowledge in the field. As part of their degree, students will take at least one lower-division and one upper-division course in each of the subfields offered by the department: Cultural, Biological, Visual Anthropology, and Archaeology.

While the undergraduate degree in Anthropology does not offer concentrations, several sequences of courses are recommended for students who have particular interests in one of the subfields. Majors should meet with an advisor at least once every fall semester to discuss the most appropriate course sequence.
