About Master of Arts - Psychology

The Master of Arts in Psychology (MAP) program enjoys an excellent reputation across the Pacific Northwest for the high quality of clinical training that it offers its students. Most graduates of the program seek licensure in the state of Washington as Licensed Mental Health Counselors to practice as psychotherapists and go on to pursue doctoral clinical psychology studies.

The Master of Arts in Psychology program is interdisciplinary, bringing together research and reflection from the fields of clinical psychology, philosophy, and the humanities. It has a strong international reputation as a center for qualitative psychological and phenomenological research, much of which arises from intensive mentorship and collaborative relationships formed between program faculty, students, and alumni.

In their approach to clinical training, the Master of Arts program places a strong emphasis on the ethical dimensions of psychotherapy. Students explore the nature of the therapeutic relationship, the process of making meaning in people's lives, along with cornerstones of traditional diagnosis and practice. Most students complete the program in a two-year full-time course of study.
