About College Diploma - Mechanical Engineering Technician (PMETN)
At Sheridan College's Mechanical Engineering Technician diploma program, students gain the fundamental knowledge needed to work in the field of mechanical engineering. In addition to basic math and science, students will study advanced subjects such as calculus, machine kinematics, fluid power, process controls and industrial practices. They will learn about the latest equipment and technologies, including programmable logic controllers, materials testing and additive manufacturing. Sheridan's mechanical engineering diploma classes are designed to give students a taste of the real world. Develop job-specific skills working at Sheridan's laboratory environment, under close supervision from professors with extensive industrial experience.
Students will also have the chance to work with Sheridan's industry partners on various applied research projects. Each of Sheridan's mechanical engineering programs share a common first year, allowing students to easily transfer into design and drafting or electromechanical specializations. After their second year, students can either enter the workforce or go into the third year of Sheridan's Mechanical Engineering Technology advanced diploma, which offers a pathway into the Mechanical Engineering four-year degree.
