The International Foundation Programme at Solent University has been designed for students who have already completed their High School education overseas meet the demands of undergraduate study in the UK. As such, substantial support is given for language development as well as building students' confidence and independence to learn effectively within this academic culture.
The Creative Industries Pathway introduces students to the key principles and skills in media, art, and design. Students will have the opportunity to develop their knowledge in an area of which they have a particular interest within the Creative Industries. The aim is to develop students' creative capacity, confidence, and skills so that they are able to communicate their ideas effectively. The course involves a Creative Project which allows students to build upon their ideas, well-preparing them to progress on to creative industries or media-related programme at undergraduate level.
Solent’s CGI and Visual Effects degree can take stidents in so many directions, from explosive film VFX to 3D character design, from architectural visualisation to motion graphics, from virtual production to motion capture.
Students will grow from a strong foundation of skills taught during their first year to become a fully industry-ready practitioner in the direction of their choosing. Solent's top-quality teaching, as well as their small course size, means students will be individually guided towards their ultimate career.
Solent supports students to build an industry network during their degree to help them find that first entry-level position through networking and dissemination of their work, hearing from guest speakers at weekly forums, attending annual events such as CGFX, Industry Week, and Graduate Show, as well as studio trips. Alongside this students will have access to Solent’s many incredible facilities and will attend regular weekly feedback sessions using our industry rushes pipeline.
Solent's annual guest speaker event, CGFX, draws in some of the industry's top experts, allowing students to network and ask questions during the Q&A. Previous companies that have attended the event include Rockstar, Aardman, Framestore, Airship Interactive, MPC, Jellyfish, Ubisoft and many more.
