About Bachelor of Science - French - Secondary Education 7-12
The Bachelor of Science in French is designed for students interested in developing linguistic fluency and high levels of cultural proficiency in French who want to become teachers of the language at the high school level.
All French classes develop students' ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend French, while increasing their understanding of French film, literature, history, geography, and culture. Concurrently, students will fulfill the courses associated with earning certification through the College of Education, and will do one semester of student teaching.
Learning outcome:
- Understand short conventional narrative and descriptive texts with a clear underlying structure, understanding the main facts and some supporting details (listening ability)
- Speak by combining and linking sentences into connected discourse of paragraph length, handling appropriately the essential linguistic challenges presented by a complication or an unexpected turn of events (speaking ability)
- Complete written work in the target language in basic work/academic scenarios, narrating and describing in major time frames with some control, and composing simple summaries on familiar topics (writing ability)
