Program Description

Swansea University's four-year MChem degree builds on the three-year BSc Chemistry, offering greater depth in the major topic areas. The distinctive feature of the MChem is a substantial research project embedded in a research group which interacts with the wider research environment and has the potential to result in publishable work.

A flexibly structured degree path means students have the opportunity to study abroad for a year or work in industry for a year, either locally, nationally or overseas. Students will be taught through a combination of lectures, tutorials, seminars, and discussion groups, supported by practical classes.

The core modules will be aligned with current pioneering research in the fields of natural products, materials engineering and medicine. The Chemistry curriculum at Swansea is informed by the needs of modern industry and constantly updated, ensuring students will always be taught relevant material which is applicable in the wider world.
