Master of Arts - Professional Translation (Extended)

The Master of Arts in Professional Translation (MAPT) is designed to transform individuals from proficient foreign language speakers into successful professional linguists.

Established in 2009, the Master of Arts in Professional Translation  was among the five founding members of the European Master’s in Translation Network, initiated by the Directorate-General for Translation (DGT) of the European Commission to enhance the quality of translator training. The program was granted membership into the EMT in 2019, and both MA programs were part of the network until January 2021, when UK programs were excluded due to Brexit.

Throughout the course, students will engage in advanced translation tasks involving general, administrative, and technical texts, as well as receive training in industry-standard Computer-Assisted Translation tools. The curriculum offers opportunities to specialize in areas such as public service interpreting, audiovisual translation, machine translation, software localization, and terminology management.
