About Master of Philosophy - History
A MPhil in History enables students to undertake a substantial project led by their own passions and interests.
Students submit a thesis of up to 60,000 words for MPhil assessment. This is followed by an oral examination of the thesis (a viva voce examination, or viva).
In both programs students will conduct original research, supervised by Swansea University's expert, culminating in a thesis that makes an original contribution to Swansea University's knowledge and understanding of the past.
Swansea specializes in Medieval, Early Modern and Modern History including British, European and Global History. The research of the staff and postgraduates is integral to the life of the department, making Swansea a dynamic and stimulating place to study.
