About Associate of Arts - Anthropology

Program Description

Study humankind, from its beginnings millions of years ago to the present day, and uncover principles of behavior that apply to all human communities.

The Social Sciences Program at TCC encourages students to investigate human existence from a variety of theoretical, methodological, and cross-cultural perspectives.

As part of TCC’s Anthropology Program, students will learn the importance of attention to detail, record keeping, observation, interviewing, critical analysis, and writing skills - abilities that easily transfer to a wide range of career areas.

TCC offers the Associate in Arts (AA)  degree with an Anthropology track.  The Associate of Arts degree is a Direct Transfer Agreement/Major Related Program (DTA/MRP) and prepares students to transition successfully into a Bachelor’s degree at Washington State 4-year universities.

TCC's Anthropology Program provides students with a direct pathway toward successful transfer into a bachelor program in Anthropology or related field.  As they prepare for transfer to a 4-year university, the anthropology faculty and curriculum will help them reach their academic and career goals in anthropology and the social sciences.

The Associate in Arts program will prepare students for university transfer and continued education. Anthropology majors gain valuable skills into human behavior, and enjoy a wide range of career opportunities in corporate and business, government, non-profit, and community based organizations. Learn more about career opportunities as an Anthropology major from the American Anthropological Association.
