About Degree Pathway: Diploma of Applied Commerce (094910F) + Bachelor of Applied Commerce - Accounting (094909K) - Granville
TAFE NSW's Diploma of Applied Commerce requires the completion of eight Level 100 subjects. These subjects are the same as those in the first year of the Bachelor of Applied Commerce.
Graduates of the Diploma of Applied Commerce will:
- Apply broad knowledge of financial process and industry practice in limited contexts.
- Utilize underpinning knowledge of fundamental financial business concepts, products and legal and regulatory requirements.
- Act with integrity, employing mandatory standards of sustainable, socially just and ethical practice in their work.
- Upon completion of this Diploma, students will be eligible to receive 1 year advanced standing in the Bachelor course. The Bachelor of Applied Commerce is a professional degree preparing graduates for employment in the financial services sector in Australia and overseas. This Bachelor has been designed with two majors: an accounting major and a financial planning major.
TAFE NSW's Bachelor of Applied Commerce is a three year degree for people who want to work in the financial services sector. Students can select to major in accounting or financial planning, or they can do a double major.
Not only has this course been developed in consultation with industry to ensure students get the knowledge and skills that employers want, they will do an industry placement in third year which will give them practical experience in a workplace setting, and helps them establish valuable industry contacts.
Careers in the financial services sector are diverse and graduates can find themselves working in a variety of settings depending on which major they have completed. By doing some additional subjects, students can graduate with a double major - accounting and financial planning.
Please note: At the time of offer the Course Coordinator will contact students to discuss any further educational support they may need. Students' offer will be confirmed after this discussion has been completed.
Work Placement Requirements: Students are required to complete a minimum of 60 hours work placement as part of this degree. The timing of work placement is flexible and arrangements are negotiated with the employer.
It is recommended that students identify host employers to undertake their work placement, however TAFE NSW's experienced teachers can also assist them finding this placement to successfully complete these hours.
