About 1-Semester Pathway - Pre-Master's (Academic Modules) in Public Health and Management - Continue to Master of Science - Public Health and Health Promotion
Program Description
Students will gain the knowledge and insight necessary to achieve change and influence health policy at all levels with Swansea's Master’s degree in Public Health and Health Promotion. Medical and Health Science courses at Swansea University are aimed at multi-professionals. The courses encompass a range of fields, including public health and policy, healthcare, law and management. The mission of both The College of Human and Health Science and the Medical School is to conduct leading research, deliver high-quality educational programmes and promote evidence-based clinical practice that contributes to the health, social well being and prosperity of the communities of South West Wales and beyond.
Students' research and analytical skills will be honed as they assess the evidence base for public health interventions, while an observation placement will give them valuable experience in real-life application of health promotion theory.
Successful completion of this pathway will lead to the MSc Public Health and Health Promotion.
The MSc Public Health and Health Promotion (PHHP) is a long-established course designed to meet the varied forms of public health practice. Students' studies will integrate public health theory and practice, with a strong focus on health promotion, to provide significant contributions to the public health service throughout Wales, the UK and Internationally.
Studying alongside students from a range of industries and professions, students will develop an understanding of the multidimensional nature of public health, considering both the traditional medical perspective and wider socio-economic determinants of health.
Course content is informed by regional, national and global policy, providing relevant learning outcomes for both home and international students, and all teaching is underpinned by the evidence base for public health practice to build a course where students develop the skills and knowledge required to work within a national and global health arena.
