The International Foundation Year in Business, Social Sciences and Humanities will prepare candidates for their chosen undergraduate degree in the humanities and social sciences at Sheffield. The Faculty of Social Sciences includes the Management School, the School of Law and Sheffield School of Architecture. This program has been developed in collaboration with the University, so modules are relevant to the student's field of study. Once they complete their International Foundation Year in Business, Social Sciences and Humanities and achieve the required grades, they can enter their chosen degree at the University of Sheffield.
Studying the culture of China, Japan and Korea gives graduates a unique perspective on the contemporary development of East Asia - the most dynamic area of the world economy. Sheffield University is the only major university outside London with expertise in all three countries. Modules cover topics such as history, society, business and literature. There are lectures on specific themes which students will then discuss in seminars and tutorials. In the third year, they will research and write a 15,000-word dissertation on a topic of their choice, supervised by an academic.
