Bachelor of Arts (Honours) - Modelmaking

The BA (Hons) Modelmaking degree course is designed for individuals who are both makers and storytellers, valuing the importance of detail. Students on this course will become proficient in the art of transforming ideas into reality, creating models that inspire and convey narratives.

Students will have the opportunity to join the design community at UCA Canterbury, which boasts an 80-year legacy in modelmaking for various fields such as architecture, visual effects, film, TV, and product design. Throughout their studies, students will collaborate with professionals in product, spatial, interior, and architectural design, enabling them to develop a diverse skill set not typically offered by similar courses.

Utilizing our state-of-the-art design and production facilities, students will learn to embrace design as a process, remaining open to the exciting discoveries that can arise from mistakes and failed experiments.

While impressive outcomes are certainly valued, this course also places emphasis on the development and production processes themselves. Upon graduation, students will have a wide range of career paths to choose from, including set or props design for theatre or film, visual effects, architectural modeling, product design, or automotive modeling.
