Master of Arts - Filmmaking

The MA Filmmaking degree course provides students with the necessary tools to enhance their creative and technical skills as independent filmmakers. It offers the opportunity to specialize in a specific area of the industry, allowing students to focus on their desired career path.

While this degree equips students to succeed in the film industry as a whole, they have the option to choose from five pathways: cinematography, directing, producing, editing, and sound design.

The course is taught within the supportive structure of the Film School at UCA Farnham, providing students with an immersive experience that reflects the realities of current film practice. Collaboration with peers on a range of short films further enhances their understanding of the filmmaking process.

At UCA, students have access to state-of-the-art facilities, including digital and 16mm cameras, advanced sound recording equipment, a purpose-built film studio, and high-quality post-production suites. This ensures they have the necessary resources to bring their creative visions to life.

Graduates from this program have achieved remarkable success, having worked on Oscar-winning movies, box office hits, major TV programs, and with leading media companies. Many have also gone on to establish their own successful production companies.
