About Bachelor of Science - Statistics - Data Science
The Data Science track is designed to provide students with skills needed to work with the "big data" problems that arise in business and industry, government, and medical research. They receive training in critical thinking about sources of data, presentation of data, interpretation of data, prediction/forecasting of data, and the merit of conclusions drawn from data.
Graduates will learn:
- Processing large data sets and programming for data-intensive applications.
- Model diagnostics and forecasting.
- Data management and mining.
- Classification and regression trees.
- Logistic regression and neural networks.
- Methodologies for statistical learning including generalized logistic and ridge regression and hierarchical clustering.
- Database design and management including data modeling, relational theory, etc.
