About Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) - Electronic and Electrical Engineering (H600)

The stimulating Electronic and Electrical Engineering BEng degree programme enables students to gain strong theoretical and practical skills in electronic and electrical engineering and to collaborate with academics who are global experts in their field.

At the University of Birmingham, they recognise that successful 21st Century engineers will thrive alongside professionals with wide-ranging expertise. The flagship Integrated Design Projects run throughout Years 1-3 of the degree. Students will work alongside Mechanical and Civil Engineers to develop designs for technologies with impact in the world. In the first year, students will learn computer aided design, about engineering processes and human-technology interactions.

Students will be the subject expert on a major project during the degree, the projects are set and assessed alongside the University of Birmingham's partners from major industries. Students will apply their in-depth technical knowledge and also learn how to share ideas through virtual reality. In these projects, students will gain vital employability skills that will give them a competitive edge in applications forms, interviews and assessment tests for graduate jobs.

Digital and analogue technologies and their applications will continue to evolve at lightning speed, so the modules are designed to ensure students can play a leading role in inventing, designing and managing them. The Electronic and Electrical Engineering BEng degree gives students the opportunity to study core subjects and explore their own pathway with optional modules. Students can really focus on the areas that interest them the most in the final year. Students will apply the creative, technical, analytical and decision making skills they have developed into delivering an individual research project as well as a group design project.
