About English for Academic Purposes Presessional Programme (6.0 overall)
The Presessional English programme at the University of Birmingham is designed to develop students' English language and academic skills in preparation for their studies at the University. Students will be taught by Teaching Fellows, qualified in teaching English for Academic Purposes.
The Presessional English course is for international students who hold a conditional offer to study at the University of Birmingham but who do not currently meet the English language requirements. The programme is tailored to the students' level of English and allows them to meet the English language requirements without retaking an English language test. These courses are suitable for: undergraduate and foundation students, postgraduate students (taught and research) and Study Abroad students.
The length of course students need depends on their current level of English, and on the score specified in the offer letter for their University of Birmingham degree.
This pre-sessional programme is for Undergraduate/Postgraduate programme IELTS Academic requirement of 6.0 overall with at least 5.5 in each band.
If students wish to apply for one of the pre-sessional programmes, they must present an approved English test as proof of their ability in English.
