Program Description
How is the archaeological past managed and interpreted in the UK today? This MA in Archaeology and Heritage Practice will allow students to investigate and critically appraise how the heritage industry and museums operate and communicate, focusing on archaeological sites and collections in the UK.Focusing on the UK but also appraising wider European and global themes and trends, our course explores how the past is managed and interpreted in contemporary society.
The focus is on archaeological heritage, enabling students to explore museums and a wide range of other heritage contexts. They utilise field trips to explore case studies from Chester, North Wales, the West Midlands and North West England.
Students will have the chance to acquire advanced expertise in heritage debates and their current applications. They will also have opportunities to develop their ideas and expertise through a Research Project and a Research Dissertation and have opportunities to work with professional heritage organisations.
